    CICS Senior System Administrator

    Responsibilities

    • Provide technical services to the customer on questions and issues relating to the database software maintained on the systems for IBM CICS and Message Queuing (MQ), including all changes and upgrades. Provide a report to the supported Government POC on customer questions.
    • Maintain software, CICS and MQ environments in compliance with the STIG and/or the Security Requirements Guide (SRG). This includes keeping software at a vendor supported version, applying necessary security software patches within the required timeframe, and maintaining required documentation as outlined in the STIG.  Maintain any and all software exits associated with the software maintained in this SOW, regardless of the language used to write the exit.
    • Diagnose and resolve CICS environment system abends and abnormal operating problems using system logs, and other available logs and documents. This includes creating and interpreting system traces and dumps, job output, and monitoring tools.
    • Install, customize, upgrade and maintain CICS and MQ Software on mainframe computer platforms running z/OS. Participate in planning and executing database migrations, application software upgrades/migrations.
    • Provide administration of IBM MQ series, including defining an environment from initial install and determining requirements for channel, manager, and queue settings.
    • Provide administration and implementation of CICS web services environment including assisting programmers in understanding requirements for use.
    • Analyze CICS & MQ software environments to provide performance tuning recommendations and plans.
    • Install more than one version of IBM CICS Transaction Server on multiple IBM z/OS LPARs in CICSPLEX and non CICSPLEX configurations.
    • Create, define, modify, and understand CICS parameters to be able to create new regions per requested criteria without assistance.
    • Install software as a lead technician within the IBM SMP/e environment.
    • Analyze causes of outages to provide RCA reports, give presentations to managements about RCA, and lead mitigation efforts of a team of technicians.
    • Administer IBM MQ series, including defining an environment from initial install and determining requirements for channel, manager, and queue settings.
    • Create and maintain backup processing for CICS & MQ and their associated products to include: Abendaid for CICS, XPEDITER for CICS, MacKinney products, Opentext Metastorm Information Manager, CA-DADS, SMART TEST, CICS Windows, CICSPLEX, ASSIST/TS, IBM UNIX System Services (USS).
    • Thorough understanding and experience of IBM SMP/E environment in order to use SMP/E to install software as a lead technician.

    Qualifications

    IAT Level 1: Must possess one of the following required certifications

    • A+ CE
    • CCNA Security
    • Network +CE
    • SSCP

    Clearance Required: Secret, IT-I

    Education Requirements

    Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math and seven years' experience with IBM CICS, MQ, and WebSphere products in a large mainframe environment.

    OR

    Ten years' experience with IBM CICS, MQ, and WebSphere products in a large mainframe environment.

    Certifications Required

    CCNA Security, A+ CE, Network +CE, SSCP
