Job Summary:

DDC is seeking a Senior Advanced Technology Specialist must meet all the qualifications listed under Mandatory Core Competencies. Deployment of advanced technologies is critical to the Data Center’s ability to assist the CIO in its mission to deliver innovative, cost effective, and secure information solutions that support OPM’s programs and initiatives.

 

This position is contingent upon contract award.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing proof of concepts to assist in determining that a design concept is feasible or meet regulatory requirements.
  • Planning, installing, configuring, customizing and implementing new technologies in accordance with the Data Center’s requirements.
  • Providing technical support to application developers in implementing Web based technologies.
  • Assisting application developers in application design, security controls, and implementation of message queue applications.
  • Assisting application developers in application design, security controls, and implementation of application server applications.
  • Planning, installing, configuring, and implementing cryptography in the Data Center’s operating system environments.
  • Planning, installing, configuring, and implementing z systems cryptographic hardware.
  • Planning and assisting application developers and Production Control in implementing data encryption.
  • Planning, installing, configuring, and implementing an enterprise event bus.
  • Planning and implementing technologies that support the Data Center remote mirroring requirements for disaster recovery.
  • Planning, installing, configuring, customizing, and implementing zLinux operating systems.
  • Planning, configuring, and implementing technologies that support the Data Center Recovery Time Objective and Recover Point Objective for disaster recovery.
  • Planning and carrying out software/hardware migrations and conversions.
  • Evaluating new technology and clarifying to OPM management how the technology can allow OPM to reach its IT objectives.
  • Providing technical assistance to OPM’s programming and operations staffs in understanding and implementing new technologies.
  • Analyzing requirements and recommending technology solutions.
  • Evaluating existing systems software and recommending improvements to operate more efficiently.
  • Providing technical support in the design, customization, and implementation of Web based related products.
  • National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) families of controls, Federal Information.
  • Processing Standards (FIPS) for computer security, and OMB security directives.
  • Planning, configuring, customizing, installing, and implementing an HTTP Server in accordance with application developer needs. Evaluating software configuring and implementation to ensure compliant with OPM’s Security Plans, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) families of controls, Federal Information
  • Processing Standards (FIPS) for computer security, and OMB security directives.
  • Planning, configuring, customizing, installing, and implementing an HTTP Server in accordance with application developer needs.

Job Requirements (Education/Skills/Experience):

  • Ten years of demonstrated recent experience as an IBM Systems Programmer.
    Five years of current experience as a senior system programmer providing expertise in TCP/IP,z/OS’s UNIX System Services, z/OS, z/VM, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, WebSphere MQ, z/OS Communications Server, Internet, Intranet, Web Applications, Routers, Switches, Hubs, asymmetric and symmetric encryption, and Transaction Servers.
  • Three years of current experience ensuring that computer security systems maintained areproperly configured to conform to US Government directives.
  • Three years of recent demonstrated experience supporting a z/OS V2.1 or above Parallel Sysplex, Red Hat Enterprise Linux version 6 or above, WebSphere MQ version 7 or above,WebSphere Application Server for z/OS version 7 or above,.
  • Three years of recent experience in implementing virtual networking and switching
    technology such as Hipersockets.
  • Three years of recent demonstrated experience in performing proof of concepts with new innovative technologies.
  • Three years of recent demonstrated experience installing, customizing and maintaining IBM’s WebSphere Message Broker and Message Queue software.
  • Demonstrated experience in configuring IBM or plug-compatible attached equipment for an enterprise system and network similar to one described in this solicitation.
  • Demonstrated experience in performing software conversions, as well as release level upgrades.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading large-scale integration projects involving systems similar to those in this solicitation.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and implementing IBM UNIX System Services.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and implementing Internet and Intranet IP networks.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and implementing router, hubs, and switches in an IP network.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and implementing data mirroring solutions used for disaster.
