Job Summary:

DDC is seeking a z/OS Sysplex CICS Transaction Server Systems Programmer.

This position is contingent upon contract award.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Planning, installing, and customizing IBM CICS Transaction Server (TS).
  • Implementing and maintaining IBM CICS TS Multi-Region Operation.
  • Establishing CICS TS intercommunications.
  • Implementing the following CICS facilities: Function Request Shipping, Asynchronous Processing, Transaction Routing, Distributed Transaction Processing, and Web Support Services.
  • Implementing and maintaining large CICS transaction processing systems in an IBM Parallel Sysplex environment.
  • Analyzing and correcting problem conditions that can be attributed to CICS and associated systems software products, following OPM’s Change Control Process.
  • Assisting and leading as necessary in designing and maintaining the integrity of OPM’s production CICS Virtual Sequential Access Method (VSAM) files.
  • Modifying CICS systems/regions and associated products as OPM needs change and/or new versions/releases of these products are approved for use.
  • Performing integration, regression, and concurrence testing of CICS systems and applications using automated testing tools.
  • Maintaining all CICS system exits written in IBM’s High-Level Assembler Language.
  • Performing problem determination and resolution following OPM’s Change Control process of ABENDs associated with CICS systems, regions, and transactions.

Job Requirements (Education/Skills/Experience):

  • Ten years of recent experience installing, implementing, and maintaining IBM’s CICS Transaction Server V4 and above in an IBM z/OS Sysplex environment.
  • Five years of demonstrated experience in implementing a Multi-Region Operation (MRO) configuration of IBM’s CICS.
  • Recent experience in implementing CICSPlex.
  • Experience in implementing CICS with DB2 Data sharing.
  • Recent experience in implementing CICS with ADABAS Cluster Services.
  • Recent experience debugging and dump analysis for CICS Transaction Server abends using interaction tools such as: IPCS, AbendAid for CICS, Expediter/CICS, z/OS Service Aids, or other 3rd party software tools.
  • Recent experience with implementing CICS transactions under system authorization facility (SAF) with an external security manager.
  • Experience in identifying CICS Transaction Server performance problems and recommending solutions.
  • Experience customizing 3rd party software products under CICS Transaction Server.
  • Experience at an expert level in tuning VSAM formatted files.
  • Experience in implementing CICS journaling under the z/OS Logger facility.
  • Experience installing and implementing a forward recovery system for CICS journals implemented in the IBM’s Integrated Coupling Facility.
  • Recent experience writing, modifying, and implementing CICS exits written in IBM’s High-Level Assembler Language.
  • Experience implementing the CICS Transaction Server Web Interface.
  • Experience using z/OS UNIX System Services in support of CICS Transaction Server Web-based applications.
  • Experience in supporting CICS in a disaster recovery.
  • Experience in supporting CICS in a Continuous Operation and High Availability configuration.
