Job Summary:

DDC is seeking a ADABAS Data Base Specialist.
This position is contingent upon contract award.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Planning, installing, customizing, configuring, and implementing SAG suite of ADABAS software products.
  • Planning and executing disaster recovery for ADABAS and ADABAS related products.
  • Planning, creating, and managing table spaces in support of DBAs.
  • Planning, configuring, and implementing ADABAS Cluster Services and its add-on tools.
  • Planning, configuring, and implementing new DBMS technologies following OPM Change Control process.
  • Planning and implementing ADABAS support for structured and unstructured data.
  • Planning, configuring, and implementing ADABAS support for SQL.
  • Planning, configuring, and implementing Natural and ADABAS security.
  • Planning, installing, configuring, customizing, and implementing ADABAS SAF security.
  • Planning and implementing performance improvement that reduces CPU consumption.
  • Planning, configuring, and implementing ADABAS buffering of data and indexes in main memory to decrease the number of physical reads and increase database performance.
  • Planning, configuring, customizing, and implementing ADABAS Cluster Services.
  • Planning, installing, configuring, and implementing ADABAS Online System (AOS).
  • Planning, configuring, and implementing Nucleus 64-bit processing support.
  • Planning, configuring, and implementing ADABAS reporting of performance and resource consumption data through SMF.
  • Planning, configuring, and implementing ADABAS to comply with audits and regulatory requirements.
  • Providing technical assistance to PMOs’ DBMS programming and systems design staff.
  • Assisting in evaluating and setting database parameters.

Job Requirements (Education/Skills/Experience):

  • Twelve years of experience in installing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting SoftwareAG’s ADABAS database systems.
  • Five years of recent experience installing, implementing, and maintaining SoftwareAG ADABAS database systems software under z/OS.
  • Recent experience implementing ADABAS Cluster Services in an IBM z/OS Parallel Sysplex.
  • Experience implementing ADABAS Suspend/Resume in support of Point-in-Time copy.
  • Recent experience with PREDICT, REVIEW DB, REVIEW Natural Monitor, Natural Security, Natural Optimizer Compiler, Natural Construct, ADABAS Native SQL, and ADABAS Online Services.
  • Recent experience with automating ADABAS startup and shutdown under automation tools such as Tivoli System Automation for z/OS or compatible 3rd-party automation software systems.
  • Recent experience performing software conversions/migration of the SoftwareAG suite of software to systems such as DB2 or Oracle.
  • Recent experience in maintaining z/OS operating system and IBM’s CICS Transaction Server parameters to best support ADABAS and Natural operation and performance.
  • Recent experience in supporting CICS Natural application in a CICSPlex configuration.
  • Recent experience performing dump analysis of Natural programs.
  • Recent experience in developing disaster recovery procedures for offsite restoration of the ADABAS environment.
  • Recent experience in monitoring and tuning ADABAS’s databases.
  • Recent experience applying SoftwareAG software released fixes.
