Job Summary:

The Defense Enclave Services contract will unify the DOD Fourth Estate Defense Agencies and Field Activities’ common use information technology systems, personnel, functions and program elements under the direction of DISA’s Fourth Estate Network Optimization program office.  This technician will support a large federal agency’s Network Infrastructure through survey, design, and deployment of structured networks and will be responsible for the upkeep of the security posture of the environment. This is accomplished through projects such as new installations, life cycle replacement projects, Cable Plant and wireless installations that are compliant with commercial, TEMPEST, and NIST standards.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead network survey, design and installations under direction of the government.
  • Conduct Site Surveys of customer premise networks in CONUS and OCONUS locations.
  • Create detailed Site Survey reports detailing a site’s current infrastructure, NIST and TEMPEST compliance, along with design recommendations.
  • Configure, install, test, certify, and troubleshoot network infrastructure cabling.
  • Ensure Network cabling infrastructure is compliant with current NIST and TEMPEST Standards.
  • Build and install equipment racks.
  • Install, dress, label, and terminate Cat6 and Fiber cable in telecommunications rooms.
  • Test and troubleshoot network infrastructure issues on SIPR and NIPR networks.
  • Create accurate reports and documentation to design/certify network infrastructure.
  • Track, manage, and ensure project tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Develop Bills of Material (BOM) for network plant design requirements.
  • Plan and perform preventive maintenance and scheduled upgrades (Life-cycle replacements)
  • Investigate physical faults in the network.
  • Report network infrastructure deployment status to key stakeholders.
  • Have flexible working hours to be available to support off hour work, when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Job Requirements (Education/Skills/Experience):

  • Must have an active Top Secret clearance
  • Must have one of the qualifying IAT Level II certifications (Sec.+, etc.)
  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of relevant experience; additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • Understanding of ANSI/TIA-568 and 569 standards.
  • Requirements of Protective Distribution Systems (PDS) for Classified Systems as directed by Security and/or the Certified Tempest Technical Authority (CTTA).
  • Knowledge of National Security Telecommunication & Information Systems Security Instruction (NTISSI) 7003.
  • Knowledge of DISA network topologies and standards.
  • Topology and rack elevations using Visio.
  • Experience with various OTDR, cable testers, and network sniffers to develop reports for infrastructure certification documentation.

Desired Quals

  • Certified Cisco Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent.
  • Demonstrate experience in one or more of the following enterprise network management tools such as PaloAlto Panorama, SolarWinds, Cisco Prime, Cisco DNA, What’s Up Gold, or Junos Space.
  • Experience in designing and implementing VTC solutions.
  • Experience with ScienceLogic SL1 and/or SolarWinds.
  • Hands on experience with SD-WAN.
  • Demonstrate expertise in design and improvement of complex and geographically enterprise networks.
  • Expert knowledge of DoD security requirements for network infrastructure.
  • Demonstrate experience in system hardening of network infrastructure to include DoD STIG implementation.
