Job Summary:

Red Canyon is seeking senior-level Project Engineer for a position at Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC), Arnold AFB, TN.This position is in support of our Partnership with Perikin Enterprise to provide engineering services; program, project, financial, and information management; and administrative support to the Test Resource Management Center’s (TRMC) High Speed Systems Test (HSST) program and Hypersonic Test & Evaluation Investment Program (HyTIP) Program Management Office (PMO) located at AEDC. The HSST program develops new technologies to improve test and evaluation (T&E) of high speed and hypersonic systems.  HyTIP executes projects to advance and integrate those technologies into the DoD's Major Range and Test Facility Bases (MRTFB).  These missions are executed by entering into agreements with DoD, NASA and DoE organizations and letting contracts to private industry and universities.  The projects executed across the US under the HSST and HyTIP programs will transform America's hypersonic T&E capabilities.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

This Project Engineer position will have primary responsibility for the technical success of T&E technology development and test projects at AEDC and various hypersonic facilities across the country.  Emphasis will be placed on the candidate’s engineering background and their desire to further advance their engineering knowledge and skills.  In addition the Project Engineer will collaborate with the management team on contracting, scheduling and financial management aspects of project management.

Specifically, the successful Senior Project Engineer candidate will be responsible for:

  • Leading the execution of hypersonic program mission objectives and assisting in the future development of new project requirements in support of the National Defense Strategy.
  • Providing technical support to the creation of hypersonic T&E development roadmaps and strategic planning.
  • Overseeing planning, execution, analysis and reporting of aerodynamic, aerothermal, propulsion, seeker/sensor, and other tests in advanced hypersonic ground test facilities
  • Providing technical subject matter expertise supporting integrated product teams (IPTs) in the area of high speed/hypersonic technology development.
  • Engaging in project execution to assist in identifying programmatic and/or technical issues, and overseeing the development of corrective action plans.
  • Supporting operational test activities as required.
  • Coordinating requirements, plans and objectives with internal and external test customers .
  • Leading the preparation of detailed test plans and analysis activities.
  • Monitoring, analyzing and reporting on ground test facility performance and delivery of final, validated data to customers.
  • Working with other support staff to manage cost and schedule and prepare monthly status reports of technical, financial and schedule performance.
  • Tracking execution and notifying leadership of technical issues associated with mission objectives.

Job Requirements (Education/Skills/Experience):

  • Must be local to Arnold AirForce Base
  • A minimum of 4 years of direct experience in engineering, planning, conducting and analyzing test programs in aeronautical ground test facilities.
  • A minimum of 2 + years of experience in supporting propulsion ground test and evaluation programs.
  • Experience with aerospace ground test facility operational systems, to include, high pressure/high temperature systems, force measurement systems, facility and test article operations, and instrumentation and control systems.
  • Experience in the development or use of mechanical system drawings, P&IDs, CM tools, maintenance training, and interface control documents is highly desired.
  • Experience in supporting the generation of contract documents such as cost estimations and Statements of Work (SOW).
  • An unwavering attention to detail, exemplary work ethic, and grace under pressure.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with coworkers, customers and executing organizations.
  • Mastery of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Expertise with AutoCAD, MATLAB and computational analysis tools are highly desired.
  • Excellence in oral communication, technical writing and presentation preparation.
  • A current Secret security clearance or eligibility for Secret clearance.
  • Potential for up to 10% travel.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Aeronautical, Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or appropriate related discipline.
  • Master’s degree in engineering related field is highly desired.
