Job Summary:

As the Principal of Health Data Services, you will be responsible for leading strategic initiatives that leverage health data to drive innovation, efficiency, and improved outcomes across our organization and with our partners. This high-impact role combines technical expertise, health industry experience, and leadership to shape and implement data-driven strategies for population health management, clinical insights, and healthcare operations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and evolve the vision, roadmap, and priorities for DDC’s health data services.
  • Serve as the thought leader in applying advanced analytics, data platforms, and interoperability solutions within the healthcare domain.
  • Partner with senior leadership to align data strategy with business, clinical, and policy objectives.

Data Architecture & Governance

  • Oversee the development and stewardship of health data assets, including claims, EHR, SDOH, and public health datasets.
  • Ensure data privacy, compliance (HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, etc.), and governance best practices are met across all initiatives.
  • Drive semantic harmonization and interoperability across diverse data sources and standards (HL7 FHIR, CCDA, OMOP, etc.).

Solution Development

  • Guide the design and development of scalable data products, including APIs, pipelines, dashboards, and self-service tools.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and domain experts to translate health data into actionable insights.
  • Champion innovative use of AI/ML in clinical and operational contexts, evaluating and integrating emerging technologies.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and government agencies.
  • Present findings and strategies to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Contribute to business development efforts including proposal writing, scoping, and project planning.

Job Requirements (Education/Skills/Experience):

Qualifications

Required

  • 10+ years of experience in healthcare data, analytics, or informatics roles.
  • Deep understanding of health data ecosystems, including clinical, claims, and public health data.
  • Proven experience with health data standards (e.g., HL7 FHIR, ICD-10, SNOMED CT, LOINC).
  • Strong grasp of modern data platforms, tools, and methodologies (e.g., Spark, Databricks, dbt, Airflow, SQL, Python/R).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and mentor junior staff.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred

  • Advanced degree in health informatics, public health, data science, or a related field.
  • Experience working with Medicaid/Medicare data or state/federal health programs.
  • Familiarity with value-based care models and population health analytics.
