Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead DevOps Engineer to design, implement, and maintain a secure, scalable, and reliable Modeling and Simulation (M&S) DevSecOps Platform for both cloud and on-premises environments. This role is critical to supporting the modernization, sustainment, and operational readiness of Mod and Sim systems, enabling seamless integration and scalability for Joint and Air Force training environments. The Lead DevOps Engineer will play a pivotal role in driving automation, ensuring compliance with DoD cybersecurity standards, and fostering collaboration across development, security, and operations teams.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Platform Architecture & Implementation:
    • Architect, implement, and configure the M&S DevSecOps Platform, including core platform services, to support cloud and on-premises deployments.
    • Design scalable and secure infrastructure solutions that meet the operational needs of Joint and Air Force training environments.
  • Automation & Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
    • Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and management using IaC tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent.
    • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines with integrated security tools (e.g., GitLab, SonarQube, Fortify) to ensure secure and efficient software delivery.
  • Containerization & Orchestration:
    • Manage and optimize containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes, ensuring high availability and scalability.
    • Implement and maintain container orchestration solutions to support modernized M&S systems.
  • Cybersecurity & Compliance:
    • Ensure platform reliability, availability, and compliance with DoD cybersecurity standards, including RMF and NIST 800-53 frameworks.
    • Collaborate with security teams to remediate vulnerabilities and implement security best practices across the platform.
  • Collaboration & Modernization Support:
    • Work closely with development, security, and operations teams to support system modernization, transition engineering, and sustainment efforts.
    • Provide technical leadership in integrating DevSecOps practices into the software development lifecycle.
  • Monitoring & Optimization:
    • Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to ensure platform performance and operational readiness.
    • Continuously evaluate and optimize platform performance, scalability, and security.
    • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements (Education/Skills/Experience):

  • Active Secret clearance required. 
  • 10+ years of relevant experience, including at least 7 years in DevSecOps roles across multiple projects.
  • Hands-on experience with programming languages such as C++ and Python, as well as DevSecOps tools and practices.
  • Proven experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure)
  • Certifications: Must possess Security+ CE or Linux+ certifications.
  • Expertise in designing and managing CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and DevSecOps practices.
  • Strong knowledge of DoD cybersecurity compliance frameworks, including RMF and NIST 800-53.
  • Proficiency in containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud-native architectures.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
