Job Summary:

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment across selected Fort Walker Training Facility spaces, including classrooms, offices, barracks, gym, and clinic.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily cleaning: vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, and empty trash/recycling.
  • Clean restrooms, showers, locker rooms, gym equipment, and drinking fountains.
  • Conduct scheduled tasks: carpet shampooing, floor waxing/buffing, window/blind cleaning, and high dusting.
  • Maintain barracks, classrooms, gym, clinic, and training areas per task schedules.
  • Restock restroom and breakroom supplies.
  • Use cleaning chemicals safely and per instructions.
  • Track and maintain janitorial supplies and equipment.
  • Report damages or issues and follow OSHA/facility safety protocols.
  • Replace light bulbs and perform other minor upkeep as assigned.

Job Requirements (Education/Skills/Experience):

  • 2+ years of janitorial or custodial experience.
  • Knowledge of cleaning equipment, chemicals, and safety practices.
  • Prior government or institutional cleaning experience preferred.
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to follow schedules.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and perform inspections across multiple buildings and range facilities.
  • Must wear security badge at all times and comply with Fort Walker security policies.
  • Ability to lift and move supplies/equipment (up to 50 lbs).
  • Must pass background check for facility access.
  • Must wear security badge and comply with Fort Walker security rules.
