Job Summary:

We are seeking a Telecommunication Network Engineer to support the design, implementation, and maintenance of telecommunications and network systems within the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Critical Cloud and Infrastructure Support (CCIS) program. This role supports voice, data, video, and wireless networking services across LAN and WAN environments under general supervision.

 

The ideal candidate will possess foundational experience in telecommunications and network engineering, with hands-on experience supporting enterprise networks in Department of Defense (DoD) or Federal environments. This position provides an opportunity to support mission-critical infrastructure while developing advanced technical skills in a structured, enterprise setting.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the analysis, design, and implementation of voice, data, video, and wireless telecommunications networks.
  • Support installation, configuration, and maintenance of LAN and WAN network components.
  • Analyze network requirements and assist in developing system specifications and network designs.
  • Perform basic network troubleshooting and assist with root cause analysis under guidance of senior engineers.
  • Support network documentation including diagrams, configuration records, and operational procedures.
  • Assist with monitoring network performance and identifying potential issues affecting service availability.
  • Coordinate with systems, cybersecurity, and telecommunications teams to support integrated network operations.
  • Support backup planning and contingency solutions to ensure continuity of network services.
  • Participate in network upgrades, maintenance activities, and technology refresh initiatives.
  • Ensure network configurations comply with DoD security standards and organizational policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements (Education/Skills/Experience):

  • Clearance: Must possess an active Secret clearance and be eligible for IT-I (Tier 5/SSBI) / Critical Sensitive access. U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Certifications: 
  • DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II baseline certification.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification required.
  • Plus one of the following Google Cloud Platform certifications: Associate Cloud Engineer or Professional Cloud Architect.
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline; or equivalent experience as outlined in below job qualifications.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, systems engineering, or a related technical field with at least one (1) year of relevant telecommunications or network engineering experience; OR an Associate’s Degree with at least eight (8) years of experience, including four (4) years related to telecommunications systems or networks.
  • Experience supporting analysis and design of voice networks, LAN and WAN data networks, or wireless networks.
  • Foundational understanding of routing, switching, and network management systems.
  • Ability to work independently or under general direction on moderately complex technical tasks.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Minimum one (1) year of professional experience supporting telecommunications or network systems, or equivalent experience as defined in the education and qualification requirements, preferably within DoD or Federal environments.

Desired Experience and Skillset:

  • Three (3) years of hands-on experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) IT hosting or network solutions.
  • Experience working with LAN/WAN infrastructure supporting voice and data services.
  • Familiarity with network security concepts, access controls, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience supporting network monitoring or management tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to escalate issues appropriately.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary technical team.
