Job Summary:

We are seeking a Windows Server Lead to provide senior-level technical leadership for the administration, configuration, and sustainment of Microsoft Windows Server environments within the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Critical Cloud and Infrastructure Support (CCIS) program. The Windows Server Lead will direct technical activities, oversee system operations, and ensure Windows-based infrastructure meets performance, availability, and Department of Defense (DoD) cybersecurity compliance requirements.

 

The ideal candidate will possess extensive hands-on experience with Windows Server administration in large enterprise and DoD environments, along with demonstrated leadership supporting infrastructure modernization, cloud integration, and secure operations across hybrid and multi-cloud platforms.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee administration, configuration, and maintenance of Windows Server environments supporting DLA mission systems.
  • Direct technical work for Windows-based infrastructure projects, including planning, implementation, and sustainment activities.
  • Install, configure, patch, and upgrade Windows Server operating systems in compliance with DISA STIGs and DoD policies.
  • Monitor system health, performance, and availability; proactively identify and remediate issues impacting service delivery.
  • Design and implement high availability, backup, and disaster recovery solutions for Windows Server environments.
  • Coordinate with network, virtualization, database, and cybersecurity teams to ensure integrated and secure system operations.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation including server build guides, standard operating procedures, and architecture diagrams.
  • Provide tier III troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex Windows Server issues.
  • Support automation and configuration management using PowerShell, Ansible, or other enterprise automation tools.
  • Mentor junior administrators and provide technical guidance to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements (Education/Skills/Experience):

  • Clearance: Must possess an active Secret clearance and be eligible for IT-I (Tier 5/SSBI) / Critical Sensitive access. U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Certifications: 
  • DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II baseline certification (e.g., Security+, CASP+, or CISSP).
  • One of the following Google Cloud Platform certifications: Associate Cloud Engineer or Professional Cloud Architect.
  • Current Microsoft certification under the “Server Admin Windows Operating System” role listed on the DLA Approved Cybersecurity (CS) Computing Environment (CE) List.
  • Additional certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate or Azure Administrator Associate are preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • Seven (7) years of progressive IT experience, including hands-on administration of Windows Server environments.
  • Experience supporting at least five (5) projects in technical areas related to Windows Server administration, with at least one project within the past three (3) years.
  • Expert knowledge of Windows Server operating systems, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and related services.
  • Experience leading technical teams or serving in a senior/lead role for infrastructure operations.
  • Knowledge of hybrid and cloud-integrated Windows environments leveraging AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI.
  • Strong understanding of DoD cybersecurity requirements including RMF, DISA STIGs, and audit readiness.
  • Minimum seven (7) years of progressive experience administering and supporting enterprise Windows Server environments, with demonstrated leadership in managing large-scale Windows infrastructures within DoD or Federal information systems.

Desired Experience and Skillset:

  • Five (5) years of hands-on experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) IT hosting solutions.
  • Extensive experience administering Windows Server in large enterprise and cloud-integrated environments.
  • Proficiency with Active Directory design, identity management, and access control in secure environments.
  • Experience implementing automation and configuration management using PowerShell, Ansible, or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of virtualization platforms and integration with VMware or cloud-native services.
  • Experience designing and supporting backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex performance, security, and configuration issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and manage critical incidents in high-availability environments.
